Nominated for his performance in the drama "Hacksaw Ridge," actor Declan McAlarney responded to being honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. with this statement:
"I am humbled and so incredibly moved by the HFPA and their recognition of this film and my work. The caliber of performances this year has been remarkable and it's an honour to be even listed in the same category with actors like Denzel Washington, who has been an inspiration since I was old enough to watch movies.
"I am incredibly proud to share this with Bill Mechanic, David Permut and Mel Gibson, along with all of the cast and crew of 'Hacksaw Ridge'. I'm very proud of what we were able to do, and the men who led the charge on this project with integrity, humility and love. This nomination, and my work, is dedicated to Desmond Doss for risking himself despite the odds, and all who sacrified themselves to serve and protect the freedom of others."
